Who are we?

The Pleasure Society
is a pleasure curator

We aim to shape how sexuality, intimacy and joy are experienced, understood and brought into the public sphere. We create and curate spaces where pleasure can be explored openly: through cultural programming, events, collaborations, and content. From museums to festivals, from workshops to digital platforms, we bring together artists, educators, and communities to rethink how we engage with sexuality. We see pleasure as more than personal — it’s a form of expression, connection, and cultural change.

Slip Into Something More Comfortable: Why Lube Deserves a Sexual Revolution

If someone asks me what my favorite sex toy is, I don’t say vibrator.I don’t say strap-on.I don’t say anything that requires charging.I say: lube.Yes. A humble bottle of slippery goodness has done more for my sex life than most gadgets combined. And yet, somehow, it’s still the most misunderstood, under-celebrated, occasionally side-eyed product in the bedroom. So when I kicked off the first Radio Pleasure Society of 2026, I decided: we’re giving lube the spotlight.Samuel Douek, founder of Howl — a London-based pleasure platform that started as a queer rave and evolved into a sexual wellness brand on a mission to tear down shame.

Our radio show

Surprise me!

We shook things up for this episode and had Shari's partner, Cathy, ask all the questions. Who is the Pleasure Society? What have we learned from running a sex positive business? What does the future look like? And why is sexuality so important?

We spoke to Dr. Bahareh Goodarzi on the intersections of prganancy, reproductive rights, sexuality and pleasure. We dove deep into Audre Lorde's Uses of the Erotic, pleasure as a form of activism and the pregnant body as a source of power and eroticism. Listen back to our conversation.

Censorship around sex positive accounts, including the Erotic Reivew, has sky rocketed. We spoke to Editor in Chief Lucy Roeber on the topic of censorship while running an independently published magazine on the erotic, pleasure and sexuality. The last edition centered censorship. Listen back to this show that aired on August 12th, 2026

📕

  1. At Certain Points we Touch - Lauren John Joseph
  2. This Dark Country: Women Artists, Still Life and Intimacy in the Early Twentieth Century - Rebecca Birrell (just read)
  3. LoversXXX - Allie Rowbottom

In this episode, we dive into the world of sex positive nightlife together with Ellen Verheij— a scene that's been quietly transforming over the past few years. We unpack what's driving that evolution, and get into the practical side of things: what genuine consent culture actually looks like on the ground, and how the best-run venues build it into the experience rather than just paying lip service to it. We also explore the unwritten etiquette that regulars pick up over time but newcomers often have to learn the hard way, and zoom out to look at how this world intersects with bigger conversations around mental health, body image, and self-expression. Tune in below to listen to the full conversation.

We spoke to Pimenta Cítrica on AI and Sex(uality). What changes or protections in AI policies should change around sex education and the use of AI? How is AI influencing how people explore and understand their sexuality? And what does a healthy and ethical future of AI look like in our sexual lives?

We spoke to Karin from MMeet on all things around menopause and sexuality. A topic we believe is even more stigmatized than it should be. Schaamteloos/Shameless

Together with The Oh Collective and The Vulva Gallery, we started Schaamteloos to replace the word schaamlippen (“shame lips”, the Dutch word for labia) with something better: vulvalippen. It’s about accuracy, body pride, and rewriting the language we use—because shame has no place here.
